10 things I love about triathlon

1. Packing the bike into the travel case - getting excited
2. Waking up early and going to the airport instead of to work (but i hate flying)
3. The early morning tension from breakfast right up to the fear lining up for the swim - adrenalin !
4. The swim - the sound of the wetsuit sliding through the water
5. Running onto the beach at the end of the swim, it's the sand in the toes !
6. From swim to bike - the first 500m on the bike with the taste of the sea still in the mouth.
7. Finding the rhythm in the run, this takes a while, sometimes as long as 2-3km.
8. The finish line and the feeling of satisfaction and achievement - especially having faced physical and mental difficulties during the course... will i finish, will i hold out...
9. Seeing Esther at the finish line - always happy whatever the performance!!
Voir Esther à l'arrivée - toujours souriante, quelque soit la chrono !!!
10. Tapas in Barcelona after the race - a well-deserved reason to gorge myself with patatas bravas and cold beer !!!!!
11. There are more than 10 things i love about this competition....
Il y a beaucoup plus que dix....

  2. I completely agree with you Martin! Although I've never done triathlon I am sure that it is wonderful.

It I had time I would do triathlon.
The problem is that we (my wife and I) always run in the real life :) Moreover, I run with the running group four times a week. I know that triathlon takes a wide time range. I think it takes about 12 hour a week.

    Great post Martin!
    Have a beautiful weekend!

  3. Like the list but numbers 1 and 6 are questionable. Packing is a pain in the butt, and I hate flying with my bike, never know if I'm going to get it back in one piece.

  4. Yes, I am a huge fan of number 5. I remember thinking following the swim at my first Ironman "...wow, a third of my day is over!" That may have been the most absurd, idiotic thought I have ever come up with.

  5. A nice list, I'll have to start thinking up one of my own. Not being a triathlete (just a runner) I agree with 7, 8 & 9 (but substitute Sheila in the latter). For No.10 substitute a nice steak and a good bottle of Australian Shiraz.
    Keep on blogging.
